The agreement struck between the two is as follows: just before the concert the harpsichordist will choose a few seventeenth- and eighteenth-century dance suites; the dancer will then take on his ‘assignment’ — improvising. As for the audience, they will be able to share in the intimacy of this moment of reciprocal listening.
