Carmina Burana is probably one of the most famous vocal works of the twentieth century. It was composed in 1935 by Carl Orff and was used by the Nazi regime, after having been previously rejected by the party. The most famous part of this grand cantata is the opening movement ‘O Fortuna !’. The work is based on Medieval texts from the monastery of Beuren in Germany.
