Brad Mehldau is without a doubt one of the most influential jazz musicians of the last twenty years. Newspaper The Guardian has described him as “an unparalleled classical technician, able to transform a jazz standard into a Bach fugue.” For this exceptional programme on the Philharmonie’s main stage, the pianist works in the other direction, taking Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier as a starting point to inspire his own compositions.
