The Philharmonie de Paris offers an immersion into the multiple facets of Chinese music, between ancient traditions and modern-day icons.

Over two exceptionally rich weekends, visitors are invited to a multi-faceted celebration of Chinese music. From kunqu opera, the traditional music of Yunnan and Fujian and pingtan music, to films-in-concert and mouth organ recitals: masterpieces from these ancient traditions will be performed by Chinese musicians specially invited for the occasion, while the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra presents the Chinese version of the ‘New Year’s Concert’.

The guests of honour will also include star musicians, such as pianists Yuja Wang and Lang Lang, and composer Tan Dun, conducting his own works. In counterpoint, Jordi Savall presents Vivaldi’s opera Teuzzone, an illustration of the baroque fascination with the Orient.
