Orchestre de Paris / Riccardo Chailly
8 & September 9, 2021

Riccardo Chailly has concocted this sumptuous Ravelian programme, illustrating the composer’s talent as an orchestrator, with his inimitable flair for bringing out instrumental timbres, contrasting textures, and forging new sonic alloys.

Symphonic Concert
Orchestre de Paris / Klaus Mäkelä
15 & September 16, 2021

The expressiveness of the romantic lyre resonates throughout Strauss’s Four Lieder and Mahler’s ‘Titan’ Symphony, all steeped in the Lied spirit. In counterpoint to these poetic masterpieces, Unsuk Chin’s Spira rings out as a luminous ode to sound.

Symphonic Concert
Mahler 2
from 22 to September 24, 2021

With Mahler specialist Semyon Bychkov returning to the podium of the Orchestre de Paris, which he directed from 1989 to 1998, Mahler’s ‘Resurrection’ Symphony unfolds its meditation on mortality and hope for life after death.

Symphonic Concert
Orchestre de Paris / Christoph Eschenbach
29 & September 30, 2021

This imposing diptych is made up of Brahms’s First Symphony, still composed under Beethoven’s intimidating gaze, paired with Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, which is not without Brahmsian colours.

Symphonic Concert
Orchestre de Paris / Jaap van Zweden
6 & October 7, 2021

Anyone wishing to convince themselves of the splendour of the Wagnerian orchestra need only listen to this programme displaying the very quintessence of his art.

13 & October 14, 2021

20 & October 21, 2021

The overture of Verdi’s opera—an orchestral tempest, with its constantly changing climate and architecture of a mini-symphony—sets the tone for this flamboyant programme centred around… the force of destiny.

Symphonic Concert
Brahms / Un requiem allemand
3 & November 4, 2021

A programme that puts the voice in the spotlight, with a masterpiece of post-romantic expressiveness, Berg’s Early Songs, and a monument in the sacred repertoire, Brahms’s A German Requiem.

Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 11:00 am

This programme is made up of two poetic and educational masterpieces: Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra and Prokofiev’s masterful Peter and the Wolf, both used to introduce children to instrumental timbres.

Symphonic Concert
Orchestre de Paris / Klaus Mäkelä
17 & November 18, 2021

Is it possible to paint with sound? Can music create the feeling of space or of a landscape? It is questions such as these, rooted in the aesthetic speculations of romanticism, that unite these three scores on the theme of journeys.

Film & Music Performance
Notte Italiana
27 & November 25, 2021

In 1952 began a collaboration between Federico Fellini and Nino Rota that would span decades, ending only with the director’s death in 1978. In fact, ‘collaboration’ is a mild word for the powerful bond, what can only be described as true artistic communion, that formed between the two creators.

1 & December 2, 2021

Symphonic Concert
Brahms
15 & December 16, 2021

To write symphonies of his own, Brahms waited to be out from under the imposing shadow of Beethoven. Of the four he composed when the time came—at the age of 44—the last two are pure and incomparable masterpieces.

Symphonic Concert
Orchestre de Paris / Daniel Harding
22 & December 23, 2021

Elgar’s Violin Concerto unfolds its lyricism and sensuality, all the while preserving its original enigma, the composer having revealed that there was a soul enshrined within it… Three choral Lieder, also shrouded in mystery, further heighten the mystique.
