In this vast fresco composed in 1741, Handel makes use of all of the nuances of his art replete with sound painting: the orchestra literally trembles as God rattles the world, the Nativity is a pastoral in the style of Corelli, and the majesty of the fugue transmits the idea of eternity in the Hallelujah.
