Tim Burton and composer Danny Elfman share one of the most fruitful collaborations in cinema today. The Orchestre national d’Île-de-France invites us to rediscover Alice in Wonderland (2010) as a ciné-concert—a screening with live musical accompaniment.

More than thirty years ago, Tim Burton offered composer Danny Elfman the first opportunity to write a film score: it was the time of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. Both fond of independent rock and horror films, the two creators have forged a common aesthetic. Since then, Elfman and Burton have worked together on more than a dozen films. Alice in Wonderland is undoubtedly one of their most successful projects: the orchestration, bright, strange and frightening at the same time, perfectly serves the characters imagined by Tim Burton. For the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France, this is a new foray into the field of live to film concert after the Star Wars series last season.
