William Christie selected numerous extracts from the collection of sacred music Selva morale e spirituale (“Group moral and spiritual”) that Monteverdi published in 1641 in order to record a memorable album in 1987. Thirty years later, he returns to the selections that alternate between the voce sola and more dense polyphony.
