¡miércoles!

Stéphanie Janaina & Nicolás Jaar
Concert
Le Studio - Philharmonie
Duration: about 3h00
¡Miércoles!, an improvisation duo comprised of Mexican dancer and choreographer Stéphanie Janaina and Chilian-American musician Nicolás Jaar, offers a unique and intense immersive performance.

Unlike at one of Nicolás Jaar’s concerts, it is not the audience who dance during this unique performance, but dancer Stéphanie Janaina. Seated closely around her in the intimate setting of the Studio at the Philharmonie, spectators are immersed in a physical and musical experience spanning the sunset hours of a summer evening. All of the movements and sounds produced during the three-hour set are improvised, in relation to a publication created by Stéphanie and Nicolás specifically before each show and distributed to the spectators—like a footnote to the performance, which in turn informs the publication. Texts and images are compiled with layout and design by a close collaborator, visual artist Maziyar Pahlevan. ¡miércoles! means ‘¡wednesday!’ in Spanish—initially, the only day the show could be performed. But in Chile, it also means ‘¡shoot!’—a sort of invitation to break the rules, so at Days Off it will be on Saturday.
