Delicate pop from northern latitudes with this concert by Danish artist Agnes Obel, presenting songs from her sublime new album Myopia, and Icelander Emiliana Torrini, for an exclusive reunion with The Colorist Orchestra.

1/ Emilíana Torrini & The Colorist Orchestra
Since breaking onto the scene in the late 1990s with Love in the Time of Science, in which her piercingly pure voice intertwines with intentionally synthetic arrangements, Icelandic artist Emilíana Torrini has followed a unique trajectory. After a hiatus of several years, in 2005 she released Fisherman’s Woman, a new departure in her music, between folk and pop. In Me and Armini (2008), the stripped-down yet still seductive songs feature adept arrangements, with a more electronic touch on Tookah (2013), her latest studio album to date. Performances by Emilíana Torrini are as rare as she is singular. We owe her return to the stage in recent years to Belgian orchestra The Colorist, whose eight musicians accompany her in bold new arrangements of her songs, with percussions, strings, winds and piano introducing warm new colours. Far from the beaten tracks of promotion, Emilíana Torrini comes to Days Off with these new incarnations of her work.

2/ Agnes Obel
When Agnes Obel headlined Days Off in 2012, just eighteen months after the release of her debut album, it was clear we were witnessing the dazzling rise of an exceptional artist. Wholeheartedly embraced by both critics and audiences, Philharmonics revealed a truly singular style—in which majestic melodies, hushed voice, pensive piano, vocal harmonies and cello pizzicato breathe warmth and cold in a series of exquisite ditties dusted with the influence of Satie and American minimalists. Nothing short of a revelation, and one she has confirmed over a decade navigated serenely, with two other records and her breath-taking concerts. With her fourth album, Myopia, Agnes Obel takes to intriguing heights her taste for sophisticated arrangements and her experiments with sound, producing sublime, intricately crafted melodies. We look forward to discovering her live rendering of this new material which, as is her custom, she composed, arranged and produced alone.
