In 1917, before it became an orchestral suite in 1931, The Wooden Prince was a ballet in one act, obviously influenced by Stravinsky's Petrouchka. As a prelude to the intense poetry of this early score, Israeli-American violinist Gil Shaham will perform Brahms's Concerto.
