For the Philharmonie de Paris and the Days Off festival, Étienne Daho is practically family. It is here that the maestro of French pop made his return to the stage with three memorable evenings in 2014. Over the past several months, Daho l’aime pop ! (Daho likes it pop!), the subjective and photographic exhibition he designed for the Philharmonie de Paris, has enchanted visitors, following the release of his intense and magnetic latest album Blitz. Thus, it was only natural that Étienne Daho chose Days Off as the Parisian starting point for his tour, with the promise to perform new songs for the first time live at the festival. This will also be an opportunity for Daho to revisit emblematic titles from his opulent career, many of which, like slow-flowering seeds planted along the way, are echoed in the multi-coloured Blitz. This dense album with psychedelic overtones features many of the themes that have always pursued Daho, such as his fascination with Syd Barrett, the brilliantly devastating and devastated founding member of Pink Floyd, whose shadow hangs over multiple songs. Here, too, we find a more sensual and fearless Daho than ever, an artist who, having arrived at the top, gives himself free rein, including a sensational cover for his album and the decision to produce it in England. Still reinventing himself after forty years in music, Daho shows artistic boldness that spares him the stigmas of time. His eternal youth will, yet again, be the envy of us all.
