In 1965, Stockhausen was invited to Tokyo by NHK, the Japanese radio and television broadcasting network. He was not able to go until the following year, when he created Telemusik, mixing recordings of music from Japan, Vietnam, Bali, Hungary and Spain, with electronic effects. His Adieu and Solo also premiered in the Japanese capital.
