Crowning jewel of opera seria, Giulio Cesare recounts the love story of Caesar and Cleopatra against a backdrop of political quarrels.  Oscillating between heroism and romance, Handel’s musical inspiration gave rise to some of the most sumptuous melodies in all of Baroque opera.
