The Musée de la musique and Talents & Violon’celles have dedicated the third edition of this competition to the viola.
The competition aims to promote excellence in the field of instrument making and to highlight its links with music and its interpretation. It is open to professionals (“Talents of Today” category) and to lutherie students (“Talents of Tomorrow” category). During the competition, the violas are displayed in the Musée de la musique, bringing together past and present lutherie.
This final features eight instruments played behind screens by the musicians of the Orchestre de Paris. Each instrument is played solo and in piano duet. At the end of the final, the three instruments will be awarded first, second and third prize. The public may award a special prize to a viola. Three “coups de cœur” prizes may be awarded by the Luthiers Jury, the Musicians Jury and the musicians of the Orchestre de Paris.
