English multi-instrumentalist, DJ, and singer Emma-Jean Thackray is writing a love letter to visionary genius Miles Davis, offering a fresh look over his repertoire with her characteristic exuberance, inventiveness, and generosity.

Emma-Jean Thackray discovered Miles Davis and his music by pure chance on a torrent site during her teenage years. The revelation lit up her entire path, from her learning the trumpet to the development of her own taste, resulting in her own approach to music with open eyes and an open mind. Her first two albums – Yellow in 2021 and Weirdo in 2025 – are simply dripping in that jubilatory joy that she finds in the meeting point of (spiritual) jazz, soul, pop, funk, and electro. Today, Emma-Jean Thackray is doing Miles justice in the form of a love-letter concert dedicated to the unbridled genius of the American trumpeter. And while she has been particularly inspired by his electronic period, she dips into all the facets of his almost limitless repertoire, exploring fifty shades of groove and experimenting with the most uninhibited electro hybrids. Head-first into hair-raising modernity.

Opening act: Nova Fellowship

Brand-new Franco-American quintet Nova Fellowship is revisiting the repertoire of legendary drummer Steve Reid, focussing on his collaboration with Kieran Hebden (Four Tet).

Despite keeping to himself, New York drummer Steve Reid (1944-2010) was a key figure on the US music scene, leaving his mark on the history of Great Black Music as well as free jazz, funk, and rock. His many collabs included the Sun Ra Arkestra, Albert Ayler, and Mal Waldron, not forgetting Marvin Gaye and Dionne Warwick. The end of his career was shaped by his meeting with English musician Kieran Hebden, the emblematic electro genius working under the name Four Tet, with whom he recorded four hybrid, experimental, and spiritual albums between 2006 and 2010. It is this repertoire that Nova Fellowship is sharing today – alongside some of Steve Reid’s classics. Led by drummer Zach Morrow, the quintet brings together musicians eager for all forms of exploration.
