Transmission is one of the founding principles of the Ensemble intercontemporain, as important as creation and exploring new modes of musical representation. In this project, the soloists of the EIC mentor primary school students.
And what better way to spread the contemporary music virus than to involve people in? This is exactly what Luciano Berio did when he wrote Twice Upon... for London schoolchildren in 1994: under this title, which has the appearance of a diverted tale, there is a "theatre without words" for six groups of children playing all kinds of instruments (tuned or not) - each group being supervised and guided by a professional musician. An unexpected experience, which proves that raising awareness among new audiences can also be jubilant...
