Mahler’s major Symphony No.5 is the main feature of this Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela concert, which also did an outstanding recording of the piece with Deutsche Grammophon. Dudamel, one of the most fervent interpreters of South-American music, will also be adding a work unfamiliar to most European audiences, Julián Orbón’s Tres versiones sinfónicas (1954).
