Dinis Sousa , conducting

Sir John Eliot Gardiner has cancelled his participation in this concert. He is replaced by Dinis Sousa.

Dinis Sousa offers a brazen pairing of two works separated by a vast stylistic gulf: Beethoven’s promethean Symphony No. 3 and his Fourth, described by Schumann as ‘a slender Greek maiden between two Norse giants’.
