One year after releasing Lianne La Havas, assuredly her most personal and accomplished album to date, the London singer presents her neo soul treasures centre stage at the Philharmonie de Paris.
From her debut album, which won the acclaim of Prince himself almost ten years ago, to the artistic emancipation embodied by her third album, released last summer, Lianne La Havas has established herself as a leading voice in the neo soul genre—and a multitalented creator. Indeed, for her new songs she wears multiple hats, as singer-songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and producer, on an album that stands apart. Written over several years, in the aftermath of a breakup, Lianne La Havas is a concept album, designed as a cycle of songs covering every stage of a relationship. It is a story in three parts (the joy of new love, the sadness of a breakup, and the pleasure of rediscovering independence, like a rebirth) adorned in her distinctive brand of elegant soul steeped in jazz, folk and modern pop, as on the stunning cover of Radiohead’s ‘Weird Fishes’, where her sublime voice works its wonders.
