Program
In France exclusively for Days Off, Icelandic group Sigur Rós is taking to the stage with the London Contemporary Orchestra to reveal the tracks from their highly anticipated new album.
The stars are aligning for this exceptional Sigur Rós concert, which heralds the return of Kjartan Sveinsson, keyboard player and former historic band member, alongside the co-founders Jónsi and Georg Holm. The trio will be accompanied by the musicians of the London Contemporary Orchestra, who recorded the new album at the mythical Abbey Road Studios. Because you guessed it – Sigur Rós is finally back with their eighth album, ten whole years after the sensational Kveikur. This is a new step in the one-of-a-kind musical journey the Icelanders embarked on in the mid 1990s that has taken them through post-rock, pop and experimental music. Standing snugly at the very heart of the orchestra, the performers will weave together percussion, guitars, strings and vocals to breathe life into songs new and old, for a maelström of emotions that only they can produce. Four years after singer Jónsi last attended Days Off for a memorable cycle of concerts, this new Sigur Rós reunion is bound to be breathtaking.
