Giorgio Mandolesi
PRINCIPAL BASSOON
After serving as principal bassoonist at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Giorgio Mandolesi joined the Orchestre de Paris as principal bassoonist in 2003, some ten years after winning First Prize at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome. He trained on both the classical bassoon and the baroque bassoon and has performed with several early music ensembles, such as Sigiswald Kuijken’s La Petite Bande, Fabio Biondi’s Europa Galante, Jordi Savall’s Orchestre des Nations and Rinaldo Alessandrini’s Concerto Italiano.
As a teacher, he is currently a professor of modern and baroque bassoon at the Musik Hochschule Winterthur in Zurich and heads the historical bassoon class at the Conservatoire supérieur de Paris.
