Born in 1990 in Hyogo, Japan, Yuka Sukeno took up the bassoon at the age of 13 and graduated from the music department of Nishinomiya High School and Kyoto City University of the Arts. In 2012, she moved to Europe to pursue a master’s degree at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she honed her skills as a trainee with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra whilst studying.

After a brief stint as principal bassoonist with the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra, Yuka joined the Bern Symphony Orchestra in 2018. The following year, she became a permanent member of the Orchestre de Paris, taking up the post of second bassoon and contrabassoon.
