After studying at the Lille Regional National Conservatoire, where he was awarded a Gold Medal in 1985, Laurent Bourdon enrolled at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music and Dance that same year. He was awarded his First Prize there in 1988. In 1986, he passed the State Diploma for Trumpet Teachers, and in 1999 the Certificate of Teaching Competence.

From 1988 to 1993, he was a musician with the National Police, and from 1991 to 1992, a trumpeter with the Moulin Rouge Orchestra. He joined the Orchestre de Paris in 1993 as third trumpet and solo cornet, and has been a teacher at the Chatou Music School since 1999; he has also been teaching at the Douai Regional Conservatoire since 2005.

In 2002, Laurent Bourdon passed the audition for the position of principal cornet at the Paris National Opera, but decided to return to the ‘symphonic’ world, joining the Orchestre de Paris.
