Bruno Tomba
TRUMPET
Born in 1965, Bruno Tomba studied at the Conservatoire national de région (CNR) in Nancy in his father’s class, taught by Dino Tomba. After winning the First Prize unanimously at the CNR in Nancy and the First Prize in the inter-regional competition, he was awarded the First Prize unanimously and was the top-ranked candidate for admission to the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where he studied under Pierre Thibaud.
After serving for seven years as principal trumpeter with the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, he was appointed principal trumpeter and principal soloist with the Orchestre de Paris in September 1992. He has performed as a soloist with the Toulouse National Chamber Orchestra, the Toulouse Capitole Orchestra, the Nancy Orchestra and the Orchestre de Paris. He also gives chamber music concerts with soloists from the Orchestre de Paris, Les Cuivres Français, the Paris Trumpet Ensemble and other brass ensembles.
Bruno Tomba began teaching in 1985 at the Conservatoire du Mans, and subsequently at the École nationale de musique de Troyes. In 1999, he obtained his Certificate of Aptitude for the post of trumpet teacher and became a teacher at the Conservatoire du XIIe arrondissement de Paris, before taking up the post of assistant lecturer at the CNSMDP in 2007.
Since 2002, Bruno Tomba has been a trainer in the ‘Finale’ software programme at Paris City Hall and, since 2009, a lecturer in computer-aided music engraving at the Pôle Supérieur Paris Boulogne Billancourt.
