In 1985, Philippe Dalmasso was awarded First Prize for Horn at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music and Dance (CNSMDP), where he studied under Georges Barboteu.

After serving successively as principal horn of the Bordeaux-Aquitaine National Orchestra and as a soloist with the Île-de-France National Orchestra, he joined the Orchestre de Paris in 1989. A prize-winner at the Colmar International Chamber Music Competition in 1988, he performs regularly in chamber music ensembles.
