Frédéric Peyrat

Cello

Born on 7 June 1978, Frédéric Peyrat began playing the cello at the age of six. After studying at the Regional National Conservatoires of Boulogne-Billancourt and Paris with Annie Cochet and then Xavier Gagnepain, he enrolled at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music and Dance, studying under Philippe Muller and Alain Meunier. There, he was awarded First Prizes in cello and chamber music in 2001 and 2002 respectively.

Since then, he has pursued a busy career as a chamber musician, complemented by a number of more original projects, such as Boris Charmatz’s performance for cellist and dancers, Herse, Une Lente Introduction.

From 2001 to 2004, Frédéric Peyrat was a member of the ensemble Le Musiche – a flexible ensemble capable of ranging from a duo to a chamber orchestra, and comprising musicians from leading European orchestras (the orchestras of Berlin, Paris and London). He is currently a member of the Trio Amano and the Quatuor Novo, which won the SACEM Prize at the 19th European Chamber Music Competition in Paris.

He joined the Orchestre de Paris in 2001.
