Eve-Marie Caravassilis
cello
A Parisian of Greek and Guadeloupean origin, Eve-Marie Caravassilis studied the cello with Marc Latarjet at the Conservatoire in the 20th arrondissement and then with Xavier Gagnepain at the CNR in Boulogne-Billancourt.
At the age of 15, she enrolled at the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris under Michel Strauss and completed her advanced studies in Philippe Müller’s class.
In 2004, Eve-Marie went to study with Jens Peter Maintz at the Universität der Künste in Berlin, where she was awarded the highest distinction for her concert exam.
During her studies, she had the opportunity to take part in masterclasses with Christophe Coin, Bernard Greenhouse, David Geringas, Mstislav Rostropovich and Yo-Yo Ma, amongst others.
Her encounter with the Artemis Quartet whilst studying in Berlin drew her towards chamber music, and she joined the Psophos Quartet in 2006. It was as part of this ensemble, selected by the BBC as a New Generation Artist, that she performed on the world’s greatest international stages: the Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall, Tchaikovsky Hall and the Cité de la Musique, alongside renowned artists such as Bertrand Chamayou, Gautier Capuçon, Nicolas Baldeyrou and the Ébène Quartet…
Eager to explore the symphonic repertoire, Eve-Marie Caravassilis became a permanent member of the London Symphony Orchestra in 2013, performing under the baton of Sir Colin Davis, Bernard Haitink, Valery Gergiev, Sir Simon Rattle and Sir Antonio Pappano, amongst others. She is regularly invited to perform as principal cellist with leading British ensembles: the English National Opera, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. She joined the Orchestre de Paris in December 2025.
