Richard Schmoucler
Violin
A member of the Orchestre de Paris since 1997, Richard Schmoucler began studying the violin at the age of 7 at the Conservatoire of Paris’s 12th arrondissement with Jacques Spajer. He graduated at the age of 15 with a First Prize in violin, awarded unanimously, as well as a First Prize in chamber music. At the same time, and from the age of 11, he worked regularly with Ivry Gitlis.
He continued his studies at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Gérard Poulet, Maurice Moulin, Dévy Erlih and Alexis Galpérine for violin, and Daria Hovora for chamber music. At the age of 19, he was unanimously awarded First Prizes in violin and chamber music, following which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs granted him a scholarship enabling him to further his studies with Maya Glézarova at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow.
On his return, he joined the advanced string class at the Sion Academy of Music in Switzerland and studied under Tibor Varga.
En décembre 1992, il obtient la Bourse de la vocation de la Fondation Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet. En juin 1993, il est lauréat du Prix Charles Oulmont de la Fondation de France.
Il se produit également régulièrement au sein de l'European Camerata et comme violon solo à l'Orchestre de chambre de Toulouse et d'Auvergne.
Depuis 2003, il est aussi à l’origine de l’ensemble Sirba octet qui explore le répertoire classique (Bloch, Prokofiev) ainsi que des thèmes yiddish et tziganes. Sirba octet se produit dans différents festivals et théâtres dont le Théâtre Mogador à Paris où il a enregistré en 2005 le disque a yiddish mamme.
