Saori Izumi
Violin
Saori Izumi began playing the violin at the age of four. In 2003, she enrolled at Geidai University in Tokyo, where she studied with Chikashi Tanaka and Katsuya Matsubara. She entered the postgraduate programme at the Paris Regional National Conservatoire in 2007, where she studied in Suzanne Gessner’s class and then, in 2008, in the Ysaye Quartet’s chamber music class.
She furthered her training by attending masterclasses with artists such as Michael Hentz, Michael Frischenschlager, Stephan Picard, Günter Pichler, Roland Daugareil, Sarah Nemtanu and Patrice Fontanarosa.
Saori Izumi has won first prize in several competitions: the Vatelot-Rampal Competition, the Tokyo Music Competition and the Burckhaldt Competition, and is a laureate of the Eto Toshiya Violin Competition.
She frequently performs as a soloist with the orchestras in which she plays, particularly in Japan.
Saori Izumi joined the Orchestre de Paris in March 2010.
