Hsin-Yu Shih

In 2022, Hsin-Yu Shih became the first Taiwanese woman to join the Orchestre de Paris.
That same year, she was awarded her Master’s degree with distinction from the Paris Conservatoire – CNSMDP, having previously graduated from the Lyon Conservatoire – CNSMDL, where she studied under Marie Charvet, whilst also taking lessons with Stéphanie-Marie Degand at the Paris Conservatoire – CNSMDP.
During the 2022/2023 season, Hsin-Yu Shih took part in the Orchestre de Paris’s tours of Japan, Korea and several European cities, collaborating with renowned conductors and soloists such as Klaus Mäkelä, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Jaap van Zweden, Marin Alsop, Ray Chen, Yuja Wang and Janine Jansen, amongst others.
In 2022, Hsin-Yu Shih was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Education, having been selected in 2021 by the Ministry of Culture to take part in a programme dedicated to young talents from around the world, running during the 2022/2023 season.
In 2019, she was a prize-winner at the Francesco Geminiani International Competition in Verona (Italy), and was awarded the use of a Dante Guastalla violin on loan for a period of two years. That same year, she gave solo recitals in northern Italy and, in July, won the ‘Revelation Prize’ at the Mozart Competition in Augsburg (Germany).
In December, she was a finalist at the Grażyna Bacewicz International Competition in Łódź (Poland).
During her studies, Hsin-Yu Shih took part in several masterclasses and international festivals and benefited from the teaching and guidance of renowned violinists, such as Lynn Chang in the United States, Christophe Boulier and Serge Hurelen in France, Georgios Panagiotopoulos in Greece and Roman Kim in Germany.
