Damien Vergez
Violin
Damien Vergez began learning the violin at the age of 7 with his aunt, Jocelyne Maubré, a violinist, before continuing his studies at the CRR in Cergy-Pontoise in Nicolas Fromageot’s class, where he was awarded the gold medal for violin and chamber music in 2002. At the same time, he was a prize-winner at the UFAM and Radio France’s ‘Royaume de la musique’ competitions. In 2004, he furthered his studies with Véronique Bogaerts and Frédéric d’Ursel at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, before entering the Conservatoire de Lyon – CNSMDL the following year, studying under Marianne Piketty, Dominique Lonca and Nathalie Geoffray. He graduated in 2009 with a National Diploma in Higher Music Studies. That same year, he won second prize at the San Sebastián International Chamber Music Competition, performing in a sonata ensemble with pianist Jeffrey Nau.
In 2010, he joined the Ysaÿe Quartet’s class at the CRR in Paris, as part of the Deïxis Quartet, with whom he took part in numerous academies and festivals in France and abroad. The quartet won the Grand Prix at the Forum de Normandie in 2012.
Alongside his work as a chamber musician, he performs with various orchestras (the Paris Opera Orchestra, the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, the Auvergne National Orchestra, the Paris Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestre des Frivolités Parisiennes).
He joined the Orchestre de Paris in 2019.
