Maya Koch

Violin

Maya Koch performs as a chamber musician and soloist across Europe, Japan and China, in prestigious venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Teatro della Pergola in Florence, Tsuda Hall in Tokyo, the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, as well as at the Cheltenham Festival, the Angoulême Festival and Prussia Cove.

A passionate chamber musician, she has collaborated with artists such as Martha Argerich, Bertrand Chamayou, Klaus Mäkelä and Ivry Gitlis, as well as with the illustrators Kim Jung Gi and Camille Jourdy. Originally a member of the London Conchord Ensemble, she is now a member of the Le Off collective, comprising musicians from the Orchestre de Paris, for which she serves as artistic coordinator.

Her recording “Paris”, released on Orchid Classics, was acclaimed by critics and featured in the ‘Selection of the Month’ in the British magazine *The Strad*. This album is one of several recordings that have attracted press attention, released on Orchid Classics, NoMadMusic (Strauss) and Chandos (Fauré), amongst others.

Maya Koch studied in Karlsruhe with Josef Rissin, at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) with Jean-Jacques Kantorow, and then at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with David Takeno. She has received numerous awards, including the Bach Prize in Baden-Baden and first prize at the Lions Club International Violin Competition in Porto.

She joined the Orchestre de Paris in 2010.
