Mathias Lopez

DOUBLE BASS

Mathias Lopez studied organ, music analysis, composition and double bass at the CNR in Bayonne. In 2006, he was awarded a Diploma in Musical Studies (specialising in double bass) with first-class honours from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon, following four years of study under Bernard Cazauran.

During various masterclasses, he had the opportunity to study under double bassists such as Libero Lanzilotta, Giuseppe Ettorre and Daniel Marillier.

Passionate about chamber music and a wide range of musical styles, he takes part in various projects, ranging from amplified music to Baroque music, including Central European music. He has contributed to numerous recordings for various ensembles and artists, notably Les Dissonnances, Mathieu Névéol and Nomad lib’, as well as Fabien Wallerand.

He is regularly invited to join the ranks of various orchestras, including the Paris National Opera Orchestra, the Lyon Opera Orchestra, the Orchestre de Bretagne and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse.

He joined the Orchestre de Paris in April 2013.
