Ulysse Vigreux

PRINCIPAL DOUBLE BASS

Ulysse Vigreux began studying the double bass with Denis Rocher and then Eric Wrobel, and enrolled at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he was awarded his Diplôme de Formation Supérieure in 2010. That same year, he joined the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse for two seasons.
During his studies, he was awarded a scholarship from the Meyer Foundation.
From 2014 to 2016, he furthered his studies at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Niek de Groot’s class. This also gave him the opportunity to take part in numerous masterclasses with Matthew MacDonald (principal double bassist of the Berliner Philharmoniker).

His career as an orchestral and chamber musician has led him to perform at various concerts and festivals (Giverny, Deauville, Lucerne, Aix-en-Provence, La Grange au Lac in Evian, etc.) alongside the Quatuor Ébène, Maria João Pires, Nicolas Dautricourt, Antonio Meneses, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, Les Dissonances, the Auvergne Chamber Orchestra, and the ensembles TM+, Smoking Joséphine and Le Balcon…
He also takes part in projects with early music ensembles such as Les Musiciens du Louvre, the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées and Le Consort.
