Marie Van Wynsberge Clément
SUB-PRINCIPAL DOUBLE BASS
Born in 1987, Marie Van Wynsberge Clément began her musical training by playing the clarinet. She soon turned to the double bass, which was to become her instrument of choice. Quickly recognised for her instrumental and musical talents, she was selected to join the European Community Youth Orchestra in 2001.
In 2005, after obtaining her DEM at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoire in Daniel Marillier’s class, she distinguished herself by winning Second Prize at the Epernay String Competition, followed by Second Prize, the Audience Prize and the City Prize at the J.M. Sperger International Double Bass Competition in Germany.
Marie Van Wynsberge Clément has since performed regularly as a soloist, accompanied by the Polish Chamber Philharmonic and the Orchestre d’Auvergne, or in chamber music ensembles alongside talented musicians such as François Leleux, Heinrich Fisch, Olivier Besnard and Svetlin Roussev... Passionate about orchestral music, Marie was appointed co-principal of the Orchestre National de Lyon in 2006, then joined the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012, where she was appointed second principal, before joining the Orchestre de Paris in 2017. She also teaches double bass at the Romainville Regional Conservatoire (CRD).
