Sandrine Vautrin
CO-PRINCIPAL DOUBLE BASS
Sandrine Vautrin has been second principal double bassist with the Orchestre de Paris since 1998.
Alongside her orchestral work, she has a particular interest in the chamber music repertoire and has collaborated with Sonia Wieder-Atherton, Menahem Pressler, Jean-François Hesser, Dietrich Henshel and Felicity Lott at the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, the Salle Gaveau and the Musée d’Orsay.
She initiated the ‘Flash Bach’ concert, premiered at the Opéra Favart with the composer Bruno Mantovani, and has worked closely with the composers Marc-André Dalbavie, Philippe Hersant and Luis Naon on the development of original projects.
In addition to her teaching role at the conservatoire in Paris’s 13th arrondissement, she has taken part in the Demos project and regularly leads classes at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music and Dance (CNSM) as part of the Paris Orchestra Academy.
She has been actively involved within the orchestra in the design and presentation of concerts for young audiences, working alongside Yvan Grimberg at the Cité de la Musique and the Salle Pleyel.
She was a member of the Paris Opera Orchestra after serving as co-principal with the Nancy Symphony and Opera Orchestra alongside her father, Bernard
Vautrin, who was her teacher and who guided her through her studies in both flute and double bass until she entered the CNSMDP.
Sandrine Vautrin was unanimously awarded First Prize, along with the Jury’s Special Prize, in Jean-Marc Rollez’s class in 1994.
