Claire Dassesse
PRINCIPAL SECOND VIOLIN
Claire Dassesse was born in 1989 in Brussels, Belgium. Coming from a family of musicians, she began playing the violin at a very young age.
In 2004, she joined the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel as an ‘exceptional young talent’ under the guidance of Augustin Dumay and Tatiana Samouil.
In 2006, she joined the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Igor Oistrakh’s class and obtained her bachelor’s degree.
From 2009 to 2011, she studied at the Geneva Conservatory of Music until she obtained her Master’s degree; then, at the invitation of her teacher Mihaela Martin, she joined the Cologne University of Music and Performing Arts (Hochschule Köln) and completed a double Master’s degree there with great distinction.
Between 2013 and 2015, she was one of the few students at the institution to be admitted to the Konzertexam at the Cologne University of Music and Performing Arts, graduating with the highest distinction.
She has attended masterclasses given by some of the most renowned violinists of our time: Liviu Prunaru, Boris Kuschnir, Hermann, Petru Munenau, Marco Rizzi, Priya Mitchell, Stephan Picard, Mikhail Ovrustky, Gabor Tàkàcs, Zakhar Bron...
During her years of study, Claire Dassesse added numerous prizes and distinctions to her list of achievements, winning competitions such as the RTBF Young Musicians and the Lion’s Club. She is also the winner of the Jeune Talent, Jonge Solisten d’Ostende, Brueguel, Didier Noé, Deru and Nancy Philippart competitions...
In October 2011, she won the prestigious Henri Vieuxtemps Competition.
She has been a guest at numerous festivals since her teenage years, including the Festival de l'Abbaye d'Aulne, the Estivales de Megève, the Schubertiades, and the Covent Garden concerts, where she has performed alongside musicians such as François Guye, Tedi Papavrami and Christoph Schiller...
She has performed as a soloist on numerous occasions, notably with the Zilina Orchestra in Slovakia and the Pays de Savoie Orchestra…
Claire is also an experienced orchestral musician; she has notably played with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, was first violinist with the Geneva Sinfonietta in 2010 and is a principal player with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
Since September 2013, Claire Dassesse has been a member of the Ensembl’ Arenski trio, alongside Aurore Dassesse and Stephanie Proot, and they studied at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the guidance of the prestigious Artemis Quartet between 2013 and 2015. In 2017, they recorded their first CD with the Etcetera label.
