Florian Voisin
SUB-PRINCIPAL VIOLA
Florian Voisin began playing the violin at the age of seven, before joining the National School of Music in Aulnay-sous-Bois, where he studied under José Alvarez (assistant professor at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music and Dance – CNSMDP).
In 1999, he began studying the viola in the class of Olivier Grimoin, a violist with the Paris Opera, whilst continuing to study the violin.
In 2001, Florian Voisin won Second Prize in the violin category at the Épernay String Competition and entered the CNSMDP in Sylvie Gazeau’s class, where he was awarded his Diploma in 2005. He won the Young Violists’ Competition in 2002 and, a year later, joined Bruno Pasquier’s class at the CNSMDP. He took part in orchestra workshops with the Orchestre français des jeunes under the baton of Jesús López-Cobos and Emmanuel Krivine. He also studied chamber music under Christian Ivaldi and Jean Mouillère.
Florian Voisin joined the Orchestre de Paris in February 2007 as a section player.
Six months later, he was awarded his viola diploma at the CNSMDP and was appointed Third Principal Viola with the Orchestre de Paris.
