Anne-Sophie Le Rol

SUB-PRINCIPAL SECOND VIOLIN

Born in Paris in 1990, Anne-Sophie Le Rol began playing the violin at the age of four.

After being unanimously awarded First Prize by the jury in 2000 at the Paris Regional Conservatoire, she went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Musicology from Paris-Sorbonne University (Paris IV). She holds a Master’s degree from the Paris Conservatoire, where she studied under Régis Pasquier and Philippe Aïche, and has benefited from the guidance of leading artists such as Salvatore Accardo, Alexandre Vinnitski, Roland Daugareil, Claire Désert, Ami Flammer, Bruno Pasquier, Roland Pidoux, Marc Coppey, Michel Moraguès, David Walter, Hae-Sun Kang and Vladimir Mendelssohn.
From a very young age, Anne-Sophie Le Rol has won numerous national and international competitions and performs regularly as a soloist in Beirut, with the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra, the Caen Orchestra and the Camerata de Bourgogne. She has been a guest at numerous festivals and musical events, such as the Spring Recitals in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the ‘Carré d’As’ Festival in Dreux, the Classique au Port Festival in La Rochelle, the Nuits du Suquet in Cannes, the Nîmes Festival, the L’Epau Music Season, the Deauville Easter Festival, and others.

Since December 2010, Anne-Sophie has been working regularly with David Grimal and has joined the Ensemble Les Dissonances, with whom she has performed in some of Europe’s most prestigious venues (the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Auditorium de Dijon, the Théâtre du Volcan in Le Havre, the Théâtre d’Auxerre, etc.).

Chamber music is also close to her heart: the festivals and concerts to which she is invited allow her to share her passion alongside renowned artists such as Régis Pasquier, David Grimal, Laurent Korcia, Lise Berthaud, François Salque, Xavier Phillips, David Gaillard, Vahan Mardirossian, Romain Guyot, etc. She appears on numerous television and radio programmes, and her concerts consistently receive rave reviews both in France and abroad.

With a keen interest in contemporary music, she is committed to promoting the works of as yet little-known composers, and contributes to the creation and recording of new works, notably in collaboration with IRCAM and the 2e2m ensemble.

At just 21 years of age, Anne-Sophie joined the Orchestre de Paris, which led her to travel the world and perform in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, such as the Salle Pleyel, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Cité de la Musique, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo, as well as in Estonia, South Korea and China; and under the baton of the most prestigious conductors, such as Lorin Maazel, Christoph Eschenbach, Paavo Järvi, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, and others.

In 2012, she became a member of the Thymos String Quartet, with whom she has expanded her repertoire from the Classical period to contemporary works.
