Gildas Prado

PRINCIPAL COR ANGLAIS

A native of Lorient, Gildas Prado began his musical studies there before being admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he was unanimously awarded first prize in oboe in 1996. He then went on to undertake a postgraduate course there under Jacques Tys and Maurice Bourgue.

In 1998, he was principal oboist with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Claudio Abbado. In 2000, he joined the Basel Symphony Orchestra, where he remained until 2002, when he joined the Orchestre de Paris as principal English horn.

Gildas Prado takes part in numerous chamber music festivals and also performs with ensembles such as the Budapest Festival Orchestra conducted by Iván Fischer, the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique conducted by John Eliot Gardiner, Les Dissonances with David Grimal, the World Orchestra for Peace conducted by Valery Gergiev, and the Mito Chamber Orchestra conducted by Seiji Ozawa…
