In 1990, he was awarded first prizes in percussion and chamber music at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) in Jacques Delécluse’s class. Solo snare-drummer with the Orchestre de Paris since 1995, he has performed under the baton of prestigious conductors including Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Chailly, Valery Gergiev, Carlo Maria Giulini, Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel, Georges Prêtre and Sir Georg Solti.

A composer and teacher, he edits a series for Éditions Gérard Billaudot. In Paris, his works for percussion ensembles – Sweet Swaff, La Festa per Due and Zoo – have been performed at venues including the Opéra Garnier, the Opéra-Comique, the Salle Pleyel and the Théâtre de l’Athénée. His pieces for snare drum, Impressions and Tchik, are performed worldwide and featured in major international competitions. Nicolas Martynciow taught percussion at the Conservatoire in Paris’s 10th arrondissement and subsequently at the Conservatoire de Créteil, and was responsible for orchestral percussion courses at the CNSMDP. He regularly gives masterclasses in Europe, as well as in Japan, China and Canada.

He is the drummer in the Timetracks trio alongside Guillaume Cottet-Dumoulin (trombone) and Christophe Saunière (harp). He has been a Zildjian Artist since 2013 and a Bergerault Percussion Contemporaine Artist since 2021.
